Project Superman - My 1st Conversion
« on: December 05, 2006, 05:28:13 am »
I have been into retro gaming for sometime now, the new game are cool but lack an important element fun at least to me. Nothing in the world will ever replace the feeling of sitting in a dark room with nothing but time and a pocket full of quarters. I have been around lurking around the boards for a little while now and I must say you guys do it while others only dream it.

9/5/06 Got my first cabinet from a local arcade vendor that had a Konami cabinet that was converted to a golden tee 97 for $100.00 the cabinet had already been gutted down to the wood expect for coin doors, glass, speakers

9/28/06 The paint was very bad I had to strip it I was hoping for some side art so I would know what it started life as no luck

11/16/2006 I got some Happs buttons and joysticks used Mameroom Designs and Photoshop to layout a test control panel went to Kinko’s to print it out. Home Depot had some MDF boards for the control panel broke out the drill and got to work.

11/17/06 I had Buttons and joysticks lying around for about 2 hours before I had to try it out went down to Wal-Mart and got some USB gamepads and hacked them to the control panel. The gamepads worked ok but they kept switching players p2 was p1 and back and forth they went. Two days later the I-Pac4 came in, THANK YOU ANDY YOU ROCK.

12/2/06 Got a Dotronix DSV27 Monitor from dweebs0r thanks again looks great in the cabinet.  Had to extend the monitor self to fit it behind the glass. Work good in their the resolution is better than a 27” TV I had and tried at one time.

To Do List:
-Ver. 2 of the control panel will include a 4-player setup
-Clean up wiring
-Add ARACDEVGA for better resolution
-Still need to hook up the speakers
-Monitor bezel must have
-Finish sanding and painting
-Finish designing and print artwork
-Refinish coin doors
-T molding
-Start another project

Can’t wait for Input, Suggests, and comments

Side art concept looks amazing.
I really like that style of cab. Want one of those to put a real Golden Tee kit in.

You possibly made a mistake by making it playable too soon. That always slows work to a crawl!  ;D
