I wouldn't care about Madden.  If I want to play football I go outside.

We were playing doubles tennis at one point and it really did need a lot of space.  My living room is small and I have no desire to move most of the furniture out.  It absolutely required more space than 4 people sitting on the couch.

Once people get the hang of the Wii, they start needing less space because the motions come more under control. Trying to play with 4 people is still never going to be easy, though. At least, not if you have to put the controller at your side. Some games keep the controller right in front of you the whole time.
