The Super Six Plus 2 was the last of the 6000 series (model 6300 to be exact). It's been many years since we operated these machines on our route (we had 100 of them).

There were several game eprom updates issued over the years. I believe the last software update was issued in 1992. The Galaxy and Super Six series gameboards are totally different animals, however, at one time Arachnid did make a conversion kit to convert the Super Six series into a Galaxy machine. That kit included new gameboard, wiring harness, power supply, cabinet graphics/decals.

It is unforunate that Arachnid no longer supports anything from the Galaxy on back. I believe the only current factory support is for the Black Widow and Galaxy 2. Arachnid does keep some manuals and tech tips in the archive of the support section of their website, www.arachnidinc.com

Those kits came out ten years ago. There might be some Arachnid distributors that might still have some NOS kits or you could try ebay. You may even ask the factory if there are still some kits there, however, the factory does not sell direct and you'd have to order it thru a dealer/distributor (in the Yellow Pages under "Amusement Devices" or "Dart Supplies").

Betson's catalog has the "Dart head kit 6300 to Galaxy conversion" for $304.78.  Part number 26834.

I'm not sure if that includes the PCB as well, so it would be worth your while to call Betson and confirm what the kit comes with.  www.betson.com
Side Arms, Slam Dunk, Xybots, Arachnid Galaxy darts, Pac Man Plus, Dr. Who, Gauntlet, Centipede cocktail, Hyperball, Tempest, Star Wars, Xevious, Super Hang On, S.T.U.N. Runner, Galaga, Space Duel.

All that kit does is allow you to use a Galaxy target head assembly in a 6300 series game.

All parts/service/support for the 6300 series target head are no longer available. That's why the kit to allow a Galaxy target head to fit and work in a 6300.

There's a paper label on the game chip with "V2.3" (as an example) printed on it.

The later versions of the game program has the version number in the corner of the picture on the monitor in test mode.

Hey Ken, another question.  What is the difference in eprom versions??  I have a 1990 version 2.7 and say I get a 1992 any idea what the differences would be?  Would the newer chip work in my board?

It's been so long, I think it'll work. I know that after 1992 the programs were written to only support the "Super Spider" matrix and not the standard switch matrix.

Hey Ken, me again.  When I asked earlier about upgrading you said

Quote
"That kit included new game board, wiring harness, power supply, cabinet graphics/decals."

Does that mean if I could buy just the main board, power supply and wiring harness I could make it work?  Is there  anything else I need?  Any other boards or anything?  I really wanna play Gotcha

Thanks

If Gotcha is part of the Galaxy program, then I suppose you could buy the gameboard , wire harness, and power supply. You'd still need the correct target head assembly for a Galaxy to score correctly.

Actually Ebay is a good spot right now.  Some guy has 4 Galaxy boards up for sale (@30$).  You'll need the correct ROM version to get "Gotcha", "Bermuda Triangle", and the other cool games....  The most recent ROM is v7.04.  If it's not already on the board then that'll be the toughest find (I may be able to help with that one).  ;D

I have the ROM file that I can burn but I don't have a blank 2M EPROM.  I don't have anything else.

For the power supply just get both manuals and confirm voltages and pinouts.  You may be able to modify it to make it work.

Ok, I ordered the whole galaxy dart head and I won a Galaxy board on ebay (rom version 7.04 I hope).  Now I need to find a power supply since I don't think mine will work.  Anything else I need?  I am sure I need another board but maybe not.

OK, found the Galaxy manual online and it looks like I need the "Smart Target Interface Board" PN# 24798.  It looks like HAPP has it for $91 if it is still available.

Does anyone know if this is the Power supply for it?
38603 Power Supply Switching w/ Dimmer For Galaxy  $371.85

and do I need this or does it come with the above?

36994     Board For Power Supply Galaxy    $64.70

I will wait to see if I can find one locally or if it shows up on ebay before I order for that price.

For the power supply just get both manuals and confirm voltages and pinouts.  You may be able to modify it to make it work.

I will look at this but I suck at it, I always screw something up.  Does anyone know if this will work?

Yes, I believe it does work with the 9" monitors. Remember that the 9 inchers operate on 12 volts DC at around 2 amps for current. They accept standard composite video signal input and I'm pretty sure the Galaxy outputs that type of video.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade an Arachnid Super Six ll dartboard so you can play more games, like the Galaxy??

I have scanned some of the Arachnid English Mark Darts upgrade/conversion manuals and sent them to www.bombjack.org and http://arcarc.xmission.com for posting for free downloads.

Get the part number from a Galaxy manual at Arachnid's tech support section of their website. Then call several Arachnid distributors to see if they still have some in stock.

I have scanned more of my English Mark Dart 6000 series and Galaxy series manuals & schematics.

The 6000 series equipped with the "Super Spider" target head must use game eprom chip U15 with version 3.0 or later.

The manual for the Galaxy dart game posted on Arachnid's site is for the Galaxy Darts equipped with a switching power supply. I have scanned the Galaxy manual with the linear (analog) power supply. This is the one with the tranformer, filter capacitor, and circuit board that looks like the 6000 series power supply.

Here's a 6000 series dart board analog power supply converted to a switching regulator style.

Does anyone know of an LCD conversion kit for the Super 6?

The gameboard has an RCA video output jack on it. Some boards did not have the jack installed, but the space is there for it.

The video output signal is standard NTSC composite video. So you can patch it into any television set that has a video input jack on it.

Thanks Ken for the info on the RCA jack;

I didn't know I had that, worked great. However I noticed that my display must be going I seem to have lost screen pixels I thought this was the issue with the old monitor but found it must be something with my board guess I'll have to look for a new one, unless anyone would have some ideas I could try.

Thanks again!

Be sure to press down all the socketed integrated circuits on the gameboard. Sometimes they work loose over a period of time.

Also, as shown in the game manual instructions, go into the "Spider Writer" program and clear all the garbage out of the memory (clear screen command).

Can anyone help me locate a complete power supply for an English marks super six game?  It is the older style with the small monitor on the left side.  My power supply started smoking.
