Where do I start??
« on: November 06, 2006, 01:23:42 pm »
My cab's 95% done except for my marquee, I've been banging my head against the wall for the past week trying to design one, where do most people start with the designing, all I can come up with are the words and adding inner shadow and outer glow then I seem to get a mental block.

Maybe some people just aren't meant to design artwork and should stick to just building the damn cabinets instead.  :banghead:

I really want pink Lightning or a nice space effect in the background but I think I just suck, I can make small lighting effects using this guide
http://www.figma.com/howto/dbryan/db_color_03.htm

But as the marquee file size is so large it looks lost and extremely tiny and basically crap, if anyone could help or suggest a member on here who could design me a marquee I'd be extremely grateful.
Of course I would pay for the artwork I'm not a free loader  :laugh2:

I would just find your favorite game and buy the marquee instead. You can even buy a few of your favorite games and change marquees when you get tired of one, i think it looks alot more like an arcade machine with a real arcade game marquee since you seem to have no creative art skills.  ;D

Where do you start? If you like it it's a good start in my book.

I made a list of my favorite games, and filtered that down to ones that had great artwork. Then I took elements of that art and incorporated it into my own design. My cab has elements of Gauntlet, Legend of Kage, Mortal Kombat, and Ikari Warriors, all in one. 8)

I never got around to doing side art, but if I do, I've got to work Last Blade in there somewhere. ;D
