Comments on my Pac-Man themed bartop CPO.
« on: October 18, 2006, 10:25:21 am »
Just wanted to get some input on a CPO I've been working on for my Pac-Man themed bartop.  Its going to be 16"x7".

I decided on the 2 sitck/6 button layout for versatility (vs. a more retro look).  I'm thinking red balltops and yellow buttons.

I recreated the "stick surround" graphics in photoshop to be more "mathmatically sound".  I made the design centered around the joystick as opposed to the original artwork which left room for the word MOVE at the bottom (I figured most people know what the joystick is used for thesedays, lol).

Thanks for any comments,
Stobe

The only change I would make would be to put the yellow dotted border around the entire perimeter of the overlay as opposed to just the player 1 and 2 start buttons.

Looks good but one more thing.

Why not use the actual start buttons that they used on the original pac-man cocktails and cabaret machines(since yours is half way between)

They will lighten up the look of the control panel and give it some authentic character.

I would also put them off to the side like the cocktails had like in the top left corner.

Plus, they are only $3 a piece from arcadeshop.com !

what do you think?

I think its a great idea if I wanted to go more authentic.  But since the 2 stick / 6 button layout is a dead givaway that its not a real pacman, I think I'll go with the regular 1P 2P buttons.  Its a setup I'm more comfortable with on my upright, when using my front end, etc.

Thanks for the idea though.
