nintedo(sanyo) model 20 -ezv
« on: September 20, 2006, 06:27:34 pm »
I am searching go ogle for info on these monitors, I have 2 of them
both work fine and in use.
I have found the wire schematicks, this was helpfull on showing me were to adjust the colors.

questions I have for now is ... I wish to Mame this cab.
it is a large dual monitor Nintendo VS uni system
Not real sure if I want to toss in 2 PC's and have two Mame cabs in one or
1 PC and 2 monitors for 4 player games.
Leaning more to 2 PC's and have two 2 player systems in one
one horizontal and change 1 to vertical

I have only fulled with MAME on PC monitors and TVs
Never ever tinkered with arcade monitors except once I replaced a monitor with a new one. Very simple I took notes of what I took off and replaced them as I took them off and this was many years ago Still got the crap shocked out of me then  :-[

I have looked also in this topic
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=53576.40

I notice his/hers monitor is called sanyo  20 -ezv
Is this the same as mine?  I looked and did not see sanyo on eather of my monitors
mine say Nintendo (edit) after searching here sanyo and nintendo are the same.
Manual ... I have not located as of yet
only been looking for about 1 hr though  (Nintendo only show 2 pages on google and all links point to 1 place.) Thinking of looking for sanyo?

what happens when you hook up a PC to a arcade monitor?
do I lose some games in Mame to play because of resolution?
also I here tid bits of info that Nintendo monitors are weird on how it works?
I have two 19 inch PC monitors I can toss in or even I have two 21 inch monitors
(if they fit) in.  But like I said above these monitors are allready in and work just fine
only problem with on is the volume knob on the left on is sticky. touch it and sound is to low try to turn it up and just a little turn and to loud
I have it just Right now.

after reading the FAQ.s ( I am more confused than ever but seems like the resolution will not efect the games? )
The FAQ were over my head

In my opinion this would not be a good monitor for MAME. First thing this monitor runs on 100v, so you would have to run your PC and monitor of separate power sources. Second this monitor has inverted video signals :lame:, so you would have to get a video inverter to switch it back to normal so it can receive signals from a PC or a stand alone game. And unfortunately, you can

I beg to differ. Sanyo 20ezv monitors are a beautiful monitor when tuned up properly. Interfacing them to a computer is no harder than any other arcade monitor. If you have the video inverter board on the monitor (most of the ones I've seen have them) it's just a matter of changing a connector to a different header to invert the video. If you do not have the inverter board, you can either buy one from somewhere, or add the 1/2 dozen or so small parts to the chassis that are required to allow the montor to accept a normal video signal. I believe Zanen has a kit for this.

The seperate power thing is moot as he already has the monitor working in a cab.

I was wondering about the power to the monitor.?
i thought since the monitors have power now why would I need to re do the power.

I really would like to use them

I have done some more serching.... seams a few others have used these monitors will power strip work or should I check into a arcade vga card
I warn all I would be asking a boat load of questions
i have read the FAQ's and got a head spin  :dizzy:  :dunno

I took some mesurements and I could get PC monitors to fit but It will be hard and tight

EDDIT: I just crawed inside with a flaslight. I do have the invertor board
I know of what you are talking about from a search yesterday on 20-ezv here at byoac
came up with a page of info... I read all , even saw  some one made a broken TV work as a arcade monitor  :dizzy:

seems like from the FAQ's I am over thinking resolutions. I can still play most all mame games on these monitors

can I stay with one PC or do I need to toss in  2 PC's  ? Not a real problem. I do have Many extra PC's laying around

You have a "VS. Dual System" cabinet. You will have a roll bar show up on both monitors because they are so close to each other.

The original VS dual system board had one clock running two processors so both monitor yokes "beat" in sync and hence there was no roll bar. When people JAMMA'd the cabinets, two Jamma boards were installed and naturally each board had it's own clock. The two boards were not synced with each other so a roll bar appeared on each monitor.

Ken, is it possible to run two monitors off of one ArcadeVGA card?  Would there be a roll in this manner?

I think you could run two monitors from that card.

If two monitors run from the same source they would be in sync with each other and no roll bars could occur.

Yes, they're standard res (15KHz) monitors.

Running two monitors off of one card, may or may not give the right results here.  It would depend on what resoultion you are sending to them, and a host of other factors, including the internal circuits inside the cards, and possibly the software you are using.
