Arcade monitor in Gameroom = Mini bomb?
« on: October 14, 2006, 07:14:02 am »
Probably gonna catch hell for this but... I got inpatient and yanked my 25 inch arcade monitor out and put a TV in there instead. It works great so I am happy.

On the flip side I now have this 25 inch monitor in my gameroom and from what I have read my kids are going to run into it and the house is going to explode, or at least there will be alot of glass everywhere.

What do I do with this? Sell it on Ebay? Does it have any value? Toss it in the nearest dumpster?

Thanks all!

It will not explode without modification; it is more likely to implode, then all the extra players will get out and run round your house wreaking havoc!
No, it does not have any value.  Toss it out on your curb and post your address here.  It will magically disappear.  Don't sell it in the buy Sell/Trade/Forum.  J/K.  If it is complete and working it should have value...any burn-in?

What's the make and model, and where do you live?

Sorry you had so much trouble with it.  But yes, if you have kids running around your house, GET IT AWAY FROM THEM.

Pittsburgh Pennsylvanna.

I am not positive what model it is. It is 25 inchs and I yanked out of a Mortal Kombat 2 cabinet.

Ooh...probably a K7000.  Can you take a picture of the chassis?

Would you be willing to ship just the chassis?

More of a danger is a kid touching the back of the neck and getting a nasty zap from a non discharged tube. As far as imploding/exploding there is only a pressure difference of one atmosphere between the inside and outside of the tube. When you break a picture tube, usualy at the neck because the rest of the glass is quite thick, all that happens is a loud hissing until the pressure is equalized. A drop from a couple feet onto a hard surface could get you a lot of shattered glass though.

I suppose since you replaced it with a TV that this doesn't work? 'Cause I have an MK2 cab with no monitor.

Or anything else, really. :)

What brand is the monitor?
