I had the complete opposite to what you are having. I had 8 out of 10 footy games not working with Mame 1.04, then I upgraded to Mame 1.09 and a new set of ROMS and now they all work.

I would say it's a cross between your Mame version and the ROMS, perhaps it's time for a new install of the latest roms and a PC upgrade to something that can handle the latest version of Mame and all the new ROMS?

Anyone else help out with this?

I've managed to get it sorted now, did alot of playing around with different rom sets and took a step back to 105b which got all the games working. Although it then made me want to run head first into the wall because some of the games had now developed a sound problem where there was an echo/stutter constantly. So then again it took some more playing around with the rom sets and mame settings but there all shorted now.

Personally, I would run MAME 106.

CLRMAMEPRO is your friend...  http://www.clrmame.com/

Run a scan of your roms using CLRMAME and MAME 106 and it will tell you which ROMs are missing.

Some ROMs just need to be renamed or moved into different sets, CLRMAME can do that too if you check the boxes on the left side before scanning.

Once you know what you need, hop on eMule and search of the update ROM sets.

If you need any help, let me know.
