Need help modifying MAME driver

I'm trying to modify the "Run Like Hell" cheat in the hypersports driver. I want to have separate cheat buttons for player 1 and player 2 that are independant from each other. Current implementation has both players mapped to one button. I posted a message to the compiling board on mameworld but haven't gotten any responses. See thread here for more details.
