Arcade VGA vs ATI Rage Pro 2 (Any difference?)
« on: September 06, 2006, 06:00:46 pm »
If running on a arcade monitor in dos would there be any major difference between these two cards?
I've been out of the loop for a while and there have been some major advances in the maming industry since my leave of absence
Thanks

There is no difference in the picture as long as you use the same resolutions on both cards.

The AVGA is much easier to setup if you just want a standard mame cabinet setup.

If you want to use odd resolutions not supported by AVGA (e.g. DVD 720x480 or 720x576) it is probably easier to set these up with the rage pro.

The AVGA is faster if you want to use windows (DirectX).
