i've done a couple searches, including in these forums, and have not found much info on freedo.  the freedo site isn't very informative, and not much in terms of help/description comes with the emu.

basically what i'm lookin for are the required system specs (for 100% speed emulation) and info about the options, as well as if any command line params exist.  anyone with info in this area, please do share :)

The excellent freedo emulator does not come with any command line parameters ... which I can not understand why.   The only way I found to run freedo is to download jcrouse's 3DO "freedo" wrapper and use that:

http://www.emuchrist.org/cpviewer/commandlinewrappers.htm

Directions on how to use it comes with the wrapper ... very easy.

** For some people the wrapper does not work for some unknown reason.  Other people it works no problem.

Oh  yeah .... I think you just call it with a complete path to the 3DO game file.   The freedo emulator can read disc files directly so there is no reason to use mounting software such as "Daemon Tools' or "Alcohol 120".

appreciate the reply uncelt.  i know about the commandline wrapper, i'm not looking for a way to get around that.  i was more so, in the command line department, looking for more options, such as video settings.  i didn't believe there were any, i was just hoping.

i still am looking for required system specs, however, again for 100% emulation speed.  i have a decent (1.7ghz, 512mb ram, geforce 6800 gt) system that slows down it seems when there are transparency effects.  it appears the video emulation is done in software, and with command line options i was hoping to use the vid card.  The emu does run perfect on my pentium d 920 with 2 gigs RAM though, so i'm just wondering where the cutoff point is, and whether the slowdown is more so because of the processor, or the (lack of) RAM.

I have a Nvidia 32Meg TV card which interfaces my arcade PC with my TV.   The PC I am using has 512M RAM and is using a Athlon 1900+ processor (so that is about a 2Ghz machine).   The 3DO games work fine on it.

Best I can do .....

hey unclet,

do you have Gex?  if so, does it show any signs of slow down, skipping, etc. at the beginning of the game when 'gex' is being spray painted on top of the tv static?  this is a good sample test i have found.  and if all is well, can i get your freedo settings?  are they all just default?

thanks again :)
