installing after burner controls on my mame cab
« on: January 19, 2006, 12:36:23 am »
After Burner 1 and 2 are two of my favorite games to play on mame. I decided to work the controlls for this game into my existing mame cab. This involves making a new control panel, and some modifications to get the controlls to fit into the cabinet. Here is a picture of what the cabinet originally looked like when I first mamed it.

this is shows the modifications necessary to fit the controlls in the cab, and just let me ad the cabinet had been converted a couple of times, and was in bad shape when I got it so cutting it was not a huge deal.

This is as far as I am now, I still have to make the control panel for the joysticks and buttons that will go over top of these controls.

Afterburner is one of my favorite games - I just use an analog pc joystick\throttle with my setup however. How is the angle working for you with your current setup? It seems like it may be a little low or awkward to use the joystick the way it's mounted now.

it is a little low when I am standing up, but when I sit on my bar stool it is fine.

interesting idea.

I just picked up a trigger joy on Ebay (http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/95092300r.htm ) as I'm planning on doing something similar.

What hack  or control board are you using to interface w/your cab? I just ordered the A-pac for mine.

Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

Do you have any updates, or has anyone else tackled an Afterburner Panel?
