My New DS Lite
« on: June 23, 2006, 09:01:03 pm »
Just turned on my DS Lite.

One dead pixel! Bah!

Is this normal? My PSP has a couple of dead pixels too, but they're pretty small and don't notice them too much. But the dead pixel on the DS is quite noticeable.

Would you guys return it for a new one?

I'm not sure what Nintendo's policy on dead/stuck pixels is, but I'd return it.  It's your hard earned cash and I don't think it's unfair that you'd expect a unit in perfect working order especially when it's brand new.

I heard there are some homebrew fixes for the problem, but I haven't really looked for them.

I'd return it.  Dead pixels are annoying.  I just got a ds lite as well.  I was relieved when there were no dead pixels.

Drove to the store and exchanged it for a new one. No Dead Pixels!  :applaud:

Next Decision:

SD Slim or M3 Lite? I've got a couple of games to keep me busy on this for a while. Guess I'll wait and see which is best.

I really like the functionality/simplicity  of the DS lite over the PSP. I booted the DS Lite in 3 seconds :o . PSP is slower to boot, although I don't mind waiting for Katamari... ::). Haven't even started lookinh at the homebrew stuff yet. Interesting times ahead...

Don't know a whole lot about the M3 Lite...

I'm completely satisfied with my M3 slim though.  Everything's worked perfect for me so far.  The fact that it sticks outta my DS Lite doesn't bother me at all.  The PassKey however, was a hinderance.  I finally broke down and flashed my Lite.

I love the M3, but I have the clunky, larger old style M3, which matches my clunky, larger old style DS.

Well, I just ordered the M3 with mini-SD. Cost a bunch of dollars and damn! they're from Canada! They hosed me on the Taxes!!!

I should be getting it by Friday and hopefully the homebrew will not cause me any grief.

Thanks Dizzle for the PM! Appreciate your help on that one!

I picked up a DS lite yesterday and all I can say is the screen makes the games I have new again.

Luckily no dead pixels. I paid an extra $20 for a replacement plan, so when the DS super lite comes out I can return this one and get it.

Enjoy Jabba!!

That's the main reason I wanted a DS Lite.. to play my old GBA games in a completely new light.  I almost went for the new GBA with the brighter screen a while back before I found out the DSL was coming out.  The NDS games are a big plus for me.
