Popeye cabinet
« on: August 25, 2007, 06:54:05 pm »
hello,

I just scored for a very good price, a Popeye game...
the game was in a house, and never been in buisiness , according to the seller.

But the cab as a brown colour :P like this one found on KLOV

usually Popeye cabinet come in a blue colour ...

Can it be a converted cab at one point ??? well i use that argument to convince the seller to drop the price big time :P :P :P ;D

i will post pictures of it , as soon as i get it

thanks,

I have a Hientz 57 machine that was born a Popeye.  It is blue.

Check the metal tag on the back near the top.  If it is a Popeye cab, the Model No should be TPP2-UP-US.

The problem with checking the metal tag is........ Nintendo conversion kits CAME with new metal tags to put on the machine! If the operator bothered to switch them, then you won't know.

Anyways... orange cab = DK jr or Mario Bros.
This was a conversion.
NO MORE!!

 :D

Nice looking cabinet...side art needs a little help.

When are you going to paint that DK3 red?  That cabinet white just looks...off?

Great cab fever !!!!!

I love Popeye. It's an underrated game IMHO. I already enjoyed the Atari 8-bit version, and it's great on MAME, but as always the real thing is the best :)

I am still trying to figure out how to fit my three cabinets into my media room: MAME (already there), Asteroids (as you know, coming along nicely), and Tron (Which the wife doesn't know about yet...  ::))

Yeah, It's fully working but the cabinet is in pretty bad shape.  I am going to completely replace the sides.  The sides on the Trons are crazy... They arn't kidding when they say it is made of paper.

Best thing about it was I bartered for it so the bank account never saw a withdraw!  I'll start a new thread when I finish the Asteroids.  Send those spare cabinets my way when you run out of room, I'll start planning for a new house   :laugh2:
