Ebay bidding question for you
« on: June 26, 2006, 12:04:54 am »
Question for you.

I am going to place a bid on ebay for something
that is at about $600 right now.

The reserve price is probably about $1000
and the buy now is at $1250.

My question is:
If I hold out to the last few seconds, and the bid is still less
than the reserve price, and I throw in a bid of
$1150 (cause that is as high as I'll go)
will the bid for the item stop at $1000, or will it jump up
to the $1150 that I entered.

My guess is that it stops at $1000, cause that would be the
'highest bid' at the selling price...
Am I right that it stops, or would it jump up to $1150?
...so I will ask you... "Deal, or No Deal?"

If the reserve is $1000....and you are the only one to meet or beat the reserve price......then no matter how much you bid it will stop at $1000. (the highest bid)

If you bid $1150 to start.... and no-one else is bidding.....your final bid will be $1000. (if that is the reserve)

If anyone else bids.....then your bid will raise in increments above their bid "up to" your $1150 bid.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.
