isolation transformer wiring
« on: June 15, 2006, 02:07:34 pm »
hey everybody

i picked up a machine from a police auction, it's missing the monitor chassis (the frame says its a 25k7193). the cab uses the newer style power supply with the 8 terminal connectors as apposed to the 9 and 3 pin molex connectors, but there is no AC line filter, distribution block or fuse. the isolation transformer had been spliced directly into the AC power cord. Does that even work? if so is it safe? i just got an older model k7000 chassis board to put in place of the missing one and i dont want any ghetto or half-assed business in there.

much thanks to any and all who reply

it should be mains in,fused filter, isolation transformer,110/120 isolated out to your monitor, you don't need the psu to go to your transformer-it can run direct from the filter-unfortunatley for you americans you have to adhere to fcc regulations,we don't have that crap in europe.you can run without a mains filter but if you're gonna do a job do it right-just make sure you fuse it
