I'm sure you all know, but it comes out in December 2006.

I'm looking forward to it. Read the book quite a few times.

Wonder how "true" the movie will be to the book ??

There is no information at IMDB about this movie.  It does not exist.

That footage of the Hobbit is indeed bogus. It was thrown out as a front to cover the real production.
Having recieved the blessing from Tolkiens family (the thing that was holding up any Hobbit movies), Jerry Bruckheimer yanked the rug out from under Peter Jackson and is filming it right now.

There have been some casting changes from the LOTR series, and also some book revisions to make the story more timely. The film is going to take place in German occupied London in 1944. The movie will star Sam Elliot as cowboy/wizard Merlin and Chris Tucker as Bilbo Baggins. They're keeping it a secret, but it's rumored that David Spade is doing the voice work for the street-wise and smarmy CGI Smaug and Bruce Willis will play Winston Churchill.

Yeah, I hears that Alan Alda was going to be Gandolf and Michael J. Fox was going to do going to be Gollum but due to his illness, they asked Tom Cruise. He agreed if he could hand out leaflets about Scientology. Jerry Brukheimer told him to -Smurf- himself and asked Adam Sandler to do it instead.

The theme song and opening sequence of the movie was leaked onto the internet a while ago:
