Best resolution for Street Fighter II in DOS MAME?
« on: February 28, 2003, 11:06:31 am »
I had another post on this, but didn't get an answer.  Surely someone has it.  The best resolution to make Street Fighter II as close to full screen as possible in DOS MAME?  I'm using a TV, so I can't manually stretch the picture, like I'd like to.  MAME runs it at it's propery resolution which, unfortunately, makes things look pretty damn squished.  Ryu's 2 feet taller when he's horizontal than he is when vertical.  Something just ain't right with that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Odonadon

Once more it's supposed to look like that.  I know you don't believe me, but it is.  Try any capcom game, they all look like that.  Don't you think if it was a glitch that effected hundreds of games (as there are hundreds of cps1/cps2 titles) they would have fixed it by now?

But if you must tack on a custom aspect ratio and bastardize it.  I think 3:4 is what you need to pass to make it fill the whole screen.

Yes, Howard, I heard you the first time.  Thanks.  Like I said before, I don't care if it's "supposed" to look like that.  That's not how I remember it looking in my local arcade, and that's not how I want it looking on mine.  But thank you for the ratio.

Well, here's my solution:

Use Windows MAME command line version.  Turns out the Radeon 7500 doesn't support the resolution Street Fighter (and other Capcom games) were looking for in DOS.  But with the drivers, it looks great in Windows.
