well......I'm into it now i guess.
« on: May 09, 2006, 10:08:06 pm »
What is it that steers us in and out of these projects? I can't stay focused on one thing. I buy this for this and this to do that...i got seven projects going at once. I keep buying more with the excuse it's to help another project along.
It's crazy...i love it, but i gotta be honest. It's crazy.

I have an Asteroids deluxe i'm working on. I started with a shell and CP. no coin door or back panel, monitor support...anything else.
I bought another AD converted to a Gyruss game....which i loved the game anyway, so i figure parts for AD and a great game...why not.
Last week i figure it's about time to work on the AD and find Gyruss a new cab so i can get the necessary parts to get my AD going.

I see a gyruss cab advertised as empty for sale by a guy near me. i figure what luck is that in the same week i decide to do it. I'll buy it regardless. I get there and it actually had everything but the monitor but boy was it nasty. Like i had in mind...i bought it regardless.
In the pic you can see the fish tank rocks dumped in there. and the water mark probably from the fish tank water. It sure smelled like it.

Anyway, too late to make a long story short, but instead of working on AD. i am now working on Gyruss. I have all the panels off, cut sections of rotted out corners and replaced them with a solid piece and am prepping it all for paint. I got about 8 hours into it so far. Certainly not the swapping out of boards to a new cab and getting AD going i had intended.

amazing how you(well me anyway) can get steered away from something so very easy.

As in your other thread, let me know if you need any pics of anything.  I have an original dedicated Gyruss cabinet.

There is something fishy about aquarium rocks in the bottom of a cabinet.

Actually, i could use a pic of the side panel at the bottom. It doesnt' have to quality just side view from front to back at the bottom. I Basically want to see both corners.
thanks

No problem.  I'll get that to you tonight.  I was working on my new router all last night. ^_^

Here ya go.  Wow, didn't realize how much I needed to clean this thing.  I didn't get mine too long ago either.  I'll have to give it a bath.

thanks witchboard,
I was looking to see how much of a curve on the corner there was. i wasn't sure if there was one actually. I'm just about to shape it tomorrow and cut in the groove for the t-molding so good timing.

Least your getting something done, it will need to be done latter anyways. 'Specially if there is moisture in there. You say they were using a Gyruss cab to hold fish or some such? Bad idea.

The only time you are wasting is all that eating and sleeping business, stop that post-haste and good work.
