IRQ Conflict Help Please.
« on: May 20, 2006, 12:46:03 am »
I'll be damned, I think I finally found my problem with both windows media player and MAME32 having errors and closing down on me.

I stumbled onto a troubleshooting tip on the Creative Labs website that mentioned the IRQ's. Well I checked them and it turns out I have a couple conflicts.

My IRQ's are listed as the following in Win XP:

ISA 0 System Timer
ISA 1 PS/2 Keyboard
ISA 4 Comm Port (COM1)
ISA 6 Floppy Disk
ISA 8 CMOS Clock
ISA 9 ACPI Compliant System
ISA 12 PS/2 Mouse
ISA 13 Numeric Data Processor
ISA 14 Primary IDE Channel
ISA 15 Secondary IDE Channel

PCI 5  Multimedia Audio Controller (has a yellow question mark on icon)
PCI 16 OHCI IEEE 1394 Host Controller
PCI 16 Ultimarc Arcade VGA
PCI 17 SiS 180 Raid Controller
PCI 19 Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM)
PCI 19 SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
PCI 20 SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
PCI 21 SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
PCI 22 SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
PCI 23 SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller

I already did a Google search and I am having trouble finding out how exactly to resolve this. Everything I have seen says to go to Properties->Resources to change the IRQ's. Well none of the conflicting items will allow me to change anything. They all also say "no conflict" in the comments box.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks ahead of time guys.

Well I think I got it fixed. I found a pretty good guide and just ended up swapping the sound card around and disabling a few other things that were not needed (onboard sound, firewire, etc.) to free up some of the IRQ's.

I don't have any conflicts now and everything seems to be running fine.
