Flicker problem with ArcadeVGA
« on: March 02, 2003, 04:33:28 pm »
I just revamped my whole system and am now running with a WG K7400 monitor and an ArcadeVGA card.  (I had a K7500 and Blade T64.)  I'm running ArcadeOS and DMAME 0.65.

Everything in DOS looks great, ArcadeOS looks great (but does not fill the whole height of the screen), but I get a ton of flicker when I run almost any game.  Also, the sizing for the vertical games is all off.  I copied the ArcadeVGA MAME.DAT file into my ArcadeOS directory.

Do I need to select resolutions for every game before I play it?  If so, when I go into the game config in ArcadeOS the only option I have is to hit Start 2 to close.

One other problem - I often get a lockup or repeating sound when I exit out of a game while it's playing audio.  I didn't have this problem w/ AdvMame.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Also, the sizing for the vertical games is all off.

Check mame.cfg (in dmame's cfg directory) make sure that stretch is equal to 0, and there should be a setting in there keep aspect ratio, make sure that is set to one.

To see if it's a arcadeOS problem or a Dmame problem, launch a few games from the dos prompt and see if the problem still happens.

Also make sure you have scanlines turned off - scanlines will cause very bad flicker...
