It was a little tricky but what you do is attach the mounting plate in place,take the spacer off the trackball and lay it in place on the bottom of the trackball plate on the trackball mounting studs.Align the spacer hole and the mounting plate hole.Then you need to use some type of spacer (I used large nuts) to take up that extra length of the mounting studs,then use a screw and large washer to tighten down and secure the spacer in place while you rout.My drawing skills are not the best but here's a rough sketch of what I did.
