Anyone in the Baltimore / Washington DC area?
« on: February 27, 2003, 01:06:49 pm »
I have been lurking for quite some time, and have begun collecting the pieces I will need to begin my own cab.  Is there anyone in the Baltimore / Washington DC area who would like to show off their cab and give a few pre-building hints and howto's?

Hey WonderMellon,
PacManFan here,

I live just north of DC in Montgomery County MD. You know, I was going to make a post last week asking if anyone else was in the area and wanted to get together to play a few games. I've got 2 cabs. 1 full size based on Lusid's plans with a 2 player CP, and I've working on a MS. Pacman replica cocktail as a wedding present for my sister and her fiance. I usually have a little free time on the weekends(Sundays) to hang out. I'd be more than happy to show off my cab and play a few games.

I'm in Prince Georges County, just outside of DC.  The best hint i can give you is if you're building it in the winter, build it inside(i.e. garage) somewhere if it all possible.  I just built mine in december/january and my hands still haven't thawed out.  I still need to paint it and add the t-molding, but that will have to wait till it warms up outside.  Where exactly are you located Wondermellon?

Columbia.  Just about the half way mark between Baltimore and Washington.
I have a basement to do most of the woodwork in and I think I am going to go with Rampy's round-the-edges instead of the t-molding.  The only outside work should be moving from one location to the other.
I have been in touch with PacManFan already, I am very impressed with the quick responses!   ;D

I live in Southern Maryland in Leonardtown. Much further south and you fall in the Bay. I'm about 60 miles south of DC.

I live in DC and would be happy to school locals in how to play games  ;D and share a few tidbits about cabinet building.

I live in Centreville, VA now (20 miles SW of DC).  But will soon be moving slightly more north to the Sterling, VA area.  I don't have a cabinet built yet, but I'm in the planning stages for after I move.  Right now I'm working on stand-alone controls.  Like WonderMellon, I've been lurking for a while.

BirdTales, I just looked at the pics you have listed for your cabs.  They look pretty cool.  Did you get the original cabs locally?

Wondermellon,

Mame_X I got from a post here on BYOAC for a free Cab in Ohio, drove 18 hours round trip for that one.

Termination Station my Son and I built. This was actually the first Cab.

My Son's cab, Mamenoid, was a poker cabinet I picked up at auction in Pensauken, NJ.

One not pictured yet is a two player sitdown version of Road Riot 4WD. We just started stripping this one this week. I got that one at an auction in Atlantic City, NJ.

The next NJ auction is in Pensuken on the 22nd of March. Email me if you need any information. It took me 4 hours to get up there from here, should be closer to the Wash/Balt area.

And thank you for your comment.
