ID this Rammstein + Tatu
« on: March 03, 2006, 12:38:31 pm »
I'm addicted to this song, but would love to know its origins:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K660tAbsXNU&search=Rammstein%20tatu

All I know so far is it's a Rammstein + Tatu and there are several remixes/mash-ups with a similar sound.

I wanna know what's official release this track is from, and what songs are being "mashed up"?

I didn't listen to the whole tatu/Rammstein song from RayB's link, but at the beginning when Rannstein first comes in it's definitely Mein Herz brennt.  I realize thet the tatu/Rammstein song is an official relase, but Mein Herz brennt is the Rammstein song being 'mashed-up', as RayB put it...

I guess I wasn't clear in my first response... I have no idea what the tatu/Rammstein song is.  I was answering RayB's question as to what songs are being mashed up to make the tatu/Rammstein song...

Ramstein is great but the germans seem to look at it as fluffy punk rock.  ???

No, I'd say more look the way that Glam Metal of the 1980s is viewed now. Germany has a pretty serious metal scene, and Rammstein is a little light and poppy for it, plus too commercial and has too many teenage girls wanting to be cool by loving Rammstein's music. It's also no way viewed as being punk rock (Germany has enough fluffy and hard punk rock to know the difference). Being a fan of German punk (and Rammstein, for that matter), I can be fairly sure that it isn't viewed as fluffy punk rock.

Another issue has always been Rammstein's flirting with the far right making most Germans uncomfortable, such as the video clip that used the Leni Riefenstahl footage. Whilst Rammstein mightn't be a far right band, it's provocation in that direction does worry many Germans.

And, no, I'm not even German. Wow, what does that say about me? ;)

^What he said^

When I was in Germany a few months ago, pretty much every German bloke told me exactly that.

When I said "even though I've never heard of them" I meant the ONLINE STORE I bought through. I had of course heard of both bands before.

My girlfriend says that Rammstein are like the Industrial Metal Village People.

All shirtless, hairless, and greased up in their pictures.  It's about as homo-erotic as you can get.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Incidentally I own all their albums.  Good stuff....

"something...something...MEXICO...."   lol  don't know any German.

Hehe. I once saw a Ramstein clip on one of the Aussie music shows and it had ---smurfing--- subtitiles. I watch that show every week and never seen a foreign song with subtitles until then.

Granted it was very popular here but subtitles on a video clip seem about as useful as on a porno.  :)

How do you translate "ooooh! Ahhhhh!  YEH! Ahhhhh!"

Though, hell, any of you catch that "Bachelor" episode back 3-4 years ago where they went so far as to sub-title a blow-job?!? They had stuff like "slurp" and other sounds subtitled!!!

Der Finger rutscht nach Mexiko - the finger slides towards Mexico (ie the pubic region).

Rammstein are all class ;)

EDIT: oops - embarrassing typo there *blush* (pubic is correct)

I received the CD today! It's very cheaply manufactured (made in Russia!), but a CD is a CD.  Turns out that music store was also located in Russia. I can tell you, when I saw a Russian charge on my credit card a couple days ago, I got real nervous.

Anyways, haven't listened to it yet.

Oh, and a corner of the CD case got all cracked cuz they shipped it in a small padded envelope.

I wonder if they made the CD from original source tracks or pressed it "bootleg style" from MP3 files floating around the net.

Listen to it with headphones and pay attention for "swirling" effects and other artifacts from MP3 compression.

I'm content with the quality of the CD. A couple tracks have production values that are not 100% up to commercial standards, but still good enough. The CD inserts are 98% entirely in Russian, so I have no idea what's written. But obviously this was meant for the Russian market, not a worldwide release.

Then finally I found this on the official Tatu website forum, in their FAQ section:

There are also several Tatu vs. Rammstein song remixes online and there is also a remixes album called Pruzhinski which is being sold online. However, all the remixes are unofficial and not affiliated with Tatu or Rammstein.

So there ya go. Still a cool item to have in my collection.
