I'm thinking about making my bezel by taping a piece of paper in the shape of my monitor onto my smoked plexiglass, then spray painting the outside parts matte black.  Has anyone tried this?  Does it work well?

Its worked for me on glass a couple times. One advantage to using glass is that you can use a razor blade to quickly get the paint off and paint it again when you mess it up the first 3 times.

I'd recommend looking at your cabinet from different angles before settling on the mask size/shape... When I did a quickie posterboard bezel (for example... which looks slightly sucky on my cab) it looks great if  you are standing up, but if you sit down on the bar stool the bottom of vertical games you can't see very well without craning your neck (things like score, number of guys, copyright etc...)

Just a thought/FYI ... of course if you monitor is mounted more vertically it's probably less of a problem... *shrug* (mine is mounted in the original old school Taito position - very flat angle)

Well, mine's going to be a stand-up cabinet, so I'm not too worried about the viewing angle, but thanks for the input guys, i appreciate it.  That's probably what I'm going to end up doing on some smoked plexi.
