Picked up a Daytona 2 PE this morning
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:36:08 pm »
This morning, my buddy Mark helped me load up this game. It's a Daytona USA 2 Power Edition.  The PE has an extra car, and a Challenge track which does one lap on each of the other tracks.

It's the first working/non-project game I've picked up in about a year.  It is in pretty good shape, but had some dings on the plastic corners, and the sideart has a lot of scratches and such.  The seat, wheel, dash, lower seat section, etc. are all in good condition.  No cigarette burns or big cracks/gashes, etc.  Monitor looks great!  It does have a small issue, in the seat L&R rear speakers don't work.  Not sure if it is a board problem, cable problem or something else.  Haven't got that far yet.

Anyway, here are some pics:

The other one is still in the seller's basement, for now anyway... ;)

Yeah, it works.  But I tell you, sometimes I really appreciate buying a game that doesn't need totally rebuilt and repaired!! :) All I gotta do is clean this and move it into the gameroom this weekend.

Nice find.  Let me know if you want to clear out one of your Virtua Racing twins and/or the chase monitor.  As I'm in the mood to go for a drive to pick those up from you... :D

GGKoul,
Na, I gotta run all 4 VR's at least for a while before I get rid of any of them.  I think I will always keep the Live setup too, as long as I have at least a VR Twin.  It's really rare to find!

Grantspain,
Trust me, I'd like to have another one, but I kinda doubt the seller will want to get rid of his for a long time, because his boy loves it!  But who knows... I am keeping in touch with him, just in case! ;)

Should have purchased the live monitor when I had a chance...   I'm probably going to be picking up 2 more VR Twin units hopefully make 1 more to go with my existing twin.  Now I only need to find a chase monitor and I'll be set.

I'm only keeping the Live monitor because it is rare, it make the game more impressive looking just sitting there, and it is full of spare parts. ;)  It really isn't that great in action, no one really pays attention to it, honestly, and the driver view action is much better.  It's basically good as a fancier Marquee header...  I wouldn't sweat trying to get/rebuild one if I were you.

My other Twin is getting closer to the top of the game project list.  I just got rid of a project and another one is probably leaving today, so my list is clearing up quickly.  The only problem is my "House To-Do" list is getting pushed above the game list!!

GGKoul, if you get a number 3&4 sign, please let me know.  I might not bother with them, but if some become available I'd definitely like to pick them up.

Cool.  Can't wait to see pics of the 2 units linked together.
