Retro Control Panel Artwork Reque$t
« on: February 24, 2006, 02:06:14 pm »
I am looking for something retro and simple like RayB's recent design.
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=21381.40

Details:
The control panel will be a 4-player panel approx 44" long by 18" deep.
(1) 3" Happ trackball (blue)
(1) Oscar Model 3 spinner (black MAME logo top)
(2) Happ/slikstik aluminum pear top (stainless steel)
(2) Happ/slikstik aluminum pear top (blue anodized)
Happ regular push buttons (color is up to designer)
(1) J-stick w/Red Ball Top in 4way mode (can be replaced with 49-way with Blue lolipop stick from GGG if designer requests)

Six button layout for P1 & P2 and four button layout for P3 & P4
Admin buttons will be "Pause" and "Exit" located at discretion of designer.

Color Scheme:
Blue, Black, White, shades of Blue and Gray, perhaps red accents at designers discretion.
Cabinet will be a UAII, black with light blue T-molding (similar in color to Knievel's NEON MAME)
I would like to have circles or outlines around player controls, buttons, trackball, etc. And labels for Pause, Exit, Player 1 Start etc. Directional arrows around joysticks. Maybe outline around panel perimeter?

With a general 70s 80s retro style.

Here is the important part. ($$$)  I'm not in a hurry and not looking for anything crazy (I don

Again, button color is up to the designer as is the location of Player start buttons and whether or not the 4 button layout is diamond or square or the 6 button layout is straight or curved.  Its up to your creativity.

The only thing set in stone for me is the stainless steel joysticks(2 silver and 2 blue) I bought a year ago and my trackball and spinner.

Ooh, I do have a 2.75" silver jog dial that I took off of a 1970s x-ray machine.  This could be used as a spinner knob.

I would like to be able to use player 3 and 4 joysticks for Robotron and the like which is why I have not set them at an angle.

Heres another example of the retro style I'm going for.  Obviously I dont want a Centipede themed 4 player panel.  I'm just using this piece because its a good example of good color coordination, simple design and clean lines.

The colors seem like they would contrast terribly but when you put in some Red buttons it just looks SLICK.  Thats the kind of thing I'm lookin for.
