My god! It's full of games!!! First Cab
« on: January 12, 2006, 10:24:34 pm »
Okay my first Is on its way... here are some pics so far :
Cut and layout of the initial buttons / joysticks and trakcball

Stripping a dead Slide Master cabinet and putting down a base coat

Airbrushed  a galaxy on the control layout and put 5 coats of clearcoat, installed buttons and joys and a slickstick

Okay installed layout eveyrthing including a new 27 inch arcad monitor

Ill have more pics shortly with marquee... ive added a 5th joystick thats 4 way
and some car audio speakers... next is accent lighting that will make the
blackholes and lunar surface i painted on the sides lightup with uv light...
The Galaxy is uv paint also, so Im adding high intensity uv LEDs iluminating it.
The Trackball is light by blue LED's so it glows red/blue...
It's a work in progress but im getting close to my goal.  ;D ;D ;D

Any bits of slide master left? I want them if you would sell them.

Killer look with the galaxy on the CP. I was planning on doing something like that on the underside of plexi, but got in a hurry to finish the build. Seeing that really makes me want to cut a new piece of plexi and start over! Like the way it carries over into the bezel, too.

2001 Kicks butt.  I like the concept!  However, I think you'd be better off if you took screenshots from the movie and photoshopped them into a marquee thats the same as the one you have now.  Not sure how high of a quality you can get tho.

That's just my opinion!

Great lookin cab.
That marquee design reminded me more of Monthy Python  ;D but it
is indeed full of games...
2001 is a great choice for a theme. It could be backed up with some great sound clips
when the machine starts up.
Admirable list of bikes. :o ( I dig that KTM more than the others ::))

ALL rich people tell you they're not rich  ;)  . what condition is the 75 900ss? they are a way cool bike. did they also have desmodromic valves? i heard one of the early duke v-twin didnt. not keen on desmo- too complicated for the amount of power you are getting in a road bike...

the 75 is a  desmodromic valve settup, ill take a pic of it when im done restoring it... im pulling apart the engine right now to shafts and check the valve shims, its alot of work compared to the modern ones, but you get the cool valve sound and the beveled gears whiring... its only got 16k miles on it, I inherited it from a friends dad.. he had little use for it and I am in love with it, ive bugged his dad for it for 15 years. Love is being applied...
BTW my roof might leak and my house might need a coat of paint, but my 2 wheeled girls are always taken care of. :)

The BMW i bought new and have put 200K miles on while other like the capo ive ridden to to the arctic and back on :)

Get that trailer queen KTM in the dirt.  ;)

Here is my dual sporter, a converted XR400. It doesn't usually look this good, I just washed it.  ;D
It has some mods not readily apparent to the untrained eye, like the USD Showa forks.

I wish I had thought of that theme/title.  There's so much to do with it.

I see a red led lit trackball at the center of a picture of HAL 9000's red eye thing.  That would be the best CP overlay.

...theres those rectangular crystal switches.  Lots of image potential there.

...the oblelisk

actualy well ahead of you.. the trackball is already red, and ive mounted LEDs behind it... im building a plate to protect it... I'm going to laminate the decals on it to protect them and keep them from lifting...
its a work in process... :)

That CP is awesome. Did you practice with the galaxy first, or did you just wing it?

I just winged it..  The wife was away visiting her family in Texas, so after working on the cab all day I broke out the airbrush, cranked some tunes and pulled up a pic of the Andromeda galaxy. cut a bunch of star stencils out and just went to town on it. I'm hoping to get rid of the wife for another weekend so i can finish the black hole and galactic side art on it... then I'm adding the decals to go over the sides to continue the 2001 theme. Ive just finished wiring a bunch of high intensity UV lights to go on the wings of the CP pointing back at the UV paint.. I'm also placing a couple pointing down to CP to light up the galaxy.

have you posted pics of your marquee, i love it.
could you send me a copy? it rocks..

Oh, look to www.stardock. com to customize windows and i think it can be made to work as a frontend but not too sure on that.
