Props from me for your setup and hard work.
I've debated more than once about getting a pin to work on. I see you have several success stories to show and tell.
I assume component level troubleshooting might be necessary in some instances....that's been my deterrent at some levels. Well, that and the space to devote to it while its in process.
How hard did you find these to repair?
At first it was a bit daunting. I used to get a buzz out of opening them up and showing all the workings to my mates! I started with small things first IE rubber replacement, cleaning ( a lot) and then did flipper rebuilds (it was then i realised the poor repair jobs done in the past.. Operators or owners must of used the first part they can get there hands on and get the pin back out on site). Then one day I found a brand new Plastic set for the Tomcat..(was $79.00 US would probally be double that now) So I pulled the playfield out and apart (labelling everything and taking photo's...must be done!) and set about rebuilding. Most parts were available on the net !
The Terminator was a different story hardly any playfield lights were working. Problem burnt molex connectors on the WPC board and bothchy wiring straight to circuit board bypassing the fuses. Pulled the board out( about 30 connectors) label again! and bought some new molex pins and soldered them in . Repaired broken traces . etc fixed the wires back to a new plug. viola! All lights are on
The EM is a playmatic so info was hard to find but with EM's there are no computer chips everything is mechanical so commonsense and patience ( cleaning and adjusting switch's ) helped get this baby rolling.. It was covered in splats of concrete when I got it some carefull chipping fixed that. The score motor was broken ( now super glued together ) and someone had lubed the score reels which made them full of grime. These things run dry NO LUBE..So cleaning cleaning cleaning and a maladjusted start relay working! Yay These playfields are the best! the Spanish company that made them used a urethane coating of some sort back in the 70's it looks brand new.. wish Williams ,Bally etc did this.
Don't get me wrong some of these problems took hours of RESEARCH and I can't stress that enough
