New chassis in, having some problems... (WG25K7193)

Got the new chassis in and the picture was a little off, so I started adjusting the pots.

I adjusted the G-BKG pot on the neckboard and the picture immediately went out. I've tried adjusting it back and powering on/off, but nothing seems to be working.

Any ideas why I am not getting any picture? I don't think I broke the pot, I was very gentle with it.

Make sure the connecters and the neck board is connected properly. Check the fuse(s) and make sure you're using a isolated transformer for the chassis.

Everything is connected properly, fuses are good, and I am using an isolation transformer.

Well, ended up sending the chassis back to Alva Amusement. The tech guy was giving me hell about adjusting the G-BRK, but the chassis shouldn't just die from adjusting it.

They also sent me a chassis without a remote when I specifically asked for one. We'll see what happens...

What the heck is G-BRK?

i think he means green background,but how the hell could adjusting that cause this fault-unless someone adjusted one the chassis presets.

Well, they are sending me a new chassis with a remote this time.

The tech guy said that the chassis I sent back powered right up with no problems. Weird stuff. I am 100% sure I had it hooked up correctly and it did work briefly for me, then promptly died. Hopefully I have better luck with the new one.

I'm staying away from the color pots on the neckboard this time.

It's nice to see that they are taking care of you and sending another chassis anyway.

Suggestion: As with any circuit board shipped anywhere, when it arrives carefully unpack it and examine the board for cracks, component leads bent over and touching adjacent parts, connectors dislodged/cockeyed, etc.

Be careful when plugging the neckboard onto the tube and be sure the rubber suction cup (anode) connector is securely connected to the picture tube and you should be good to go.

Got the new chassis in and it is working great. I didn't change anything from how the other one was and it fired right up with no problems.

Alva was pretty good throughout this, so I highly recommend them.

Can we see a screenshot of how the picture looks? Any distortion in it? How does the overall focus of the picture look? Do you feel it was worth the time and effort in getting this board?

I got my board as well.. i ordered from video1963 off ebay.  I got the 826 with remote
Super fast shipping, great communications and a nice tutorial on the website.

My picture on a tube that hasnt been turned on since 1996 ( that is the last date sticker on my cabinet from the revenue dept)  looks awesome,  when the tube is off, you can see light burn in, but when its on, it looks great. Nice sharp crystal clear, great color depth.  I did have to tweak the Horz and Vert and I degaused it about 10 times in an hour and that seemed to help.. I am very happy with this product and the ebay vendor.  I did however have to mount the board in the frame sideways as the neckboard was in the way of the mainboard.. no big deal.. i just zip tied her in place and its solid.
Very well worth my time in getting this board as you all know from my other post I was having some issues with my original chassis and I couldnt seem to get it fixed..

I have seen several instances where the chassis had to be mounted in odd positions. Zip ties do indeed work well for securing the chassis.

The picture quality is only as good as the tube is. So if your picture tube is marginal or just not very good then you'll get a crappy picture regardless of what chassis you use.

I have been very happy with Wei-ya/Huai I Electronics/Eygo chassis. They have performed very well over the years and the chassis (when needing repairs) have been simple and easy to repair (generally just a few capacitors).

It's that Jen Shinn chassis that 8 liners sells that's not very good.

I only use wei-ya chassis as temporary subsitute when a chassis needs repair. Using a wei-ya chassis for graphic intense games is like watching TV w/o contrast. No matter how new the tube, it's just plan ugly.

I will have to disagree with you.. my picture tube is at least 15 yrs old and when playing metal slug X and all of the graphic intense explosions and stuff when you beat an end boss, the color stood out and it was awesome.. great contrast and the brightness was perfect!  I have NO Complaints

So what do you use instead? I have to say that my Wei-Ya chassis looks better than the original WG chassis that was in there.
