Forgive me if this answer should be easily attainable, but "trust me" I looked and cannot find the answer. Hopefully, the Message Board Gurus do not inflict insults upon me for asking .....

My favorite game of all time is original Donkey Kong -- not Crazy Kong, not Monkey Donkey -- just plain old original Donkey Kong.

But I cannot get it to work with recent versions of MAME ...

I am sure there is a simple fix ... any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It works fine man, I was playing it yesterday.... check your setttings and verify your roms.

Make sure that you are not just trying to run the clone without the original parent roms.  You MUST have the parent roms in there also.

Did you jump from a very old version of MAME?  The Donkey Kong ROM changed in .53...
