Custom compiled MAME works on one machine, not on another!
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:32:19 pm »
Hello,

I have a custom compile version of MAME which works fine on my Intel laptop.  However, when I move it to my AMD arcade system, I get "Illegal Instruction" everytime I try running MAME.  Even if I am only doing a mame -cc.  I don't believe I compiled this version for INTEL, but how can I check for sure?  How should I compile MAME to be optimized for an AMD processor.  I did add Alan2k's hacks to my version. And tried downloading the regular version of MAME from mame.net and it works fine on my arcade. Thanks!!!

OK looks like opt.scr may be the culprit (Pentium M optimized version enable?).  How can I unapply this patch without having to start all over.  I know I will have to recompile, but how do I take out the edits that opt.scr made so I can recompile without having to do them all again on a fresh source.  Thanks!
