27"TV Bad Picture
« on: February 05, 2003, 01:12:52 pm »
I just hooked a 27" Sony TV to my pc via an ATI Radeon 32MB SDR PCI Video Card with TV Out and the picture is quite bad.  It looks like there is a white dotted line around all the text boxes and the screen is all in all not sharp.  The picture is fine while on a monitor, and while loading the cp settings the font is ok, but as soon as Widows XP kicks in I get the bad picture.  I have tried several settings but maybe haven

I'm not good with the technical reasons for this, but tv's aren't known for having a good view in windows.  Refresh rate or something i guess.  Long story short, you're not going to get windows looking too great on a tv.  The PC games though i'm not sure about.  Maybe someone else can enlighten on that.

Make sure that you don't have the resolution in Golden Tee PC cranked up too high.  You should set it at 640x480 for running on a TV - this will make the text appear larger and more readable.

The problem is that the text in that game in particular is quite small...not a problem on a computer monitor but it doesn't translate as well to a TV.  I've found it acceptable runing at 640X480 on my 27" TV.
