Ok, so I heard an interview on NPR the other day, and they were talking to a word-chick from Webster's Dictionary. She's one of the people who decide which new words to put into the dictionary. For the most part, they put words in based on common usage... If a word gets used commonly enough, then it gets put in.
So here's the part that made me scream.
One of the words that she's considering officially putting onto the Dictionary is the made-up word "cromulent". She says that she loves that word, because it's such a funny joke from the Simpsons. Basically two teachers (and the class) are watching a film about the town founder, and someone says "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man." One of the teachers questions the validity of the word "embiggens", and the other teacher replies "It's a perfectly cromulent word."
Heeheeheeheeheehee! Funny Joke.
But the Dictionary Lady says that "cromulent" is getting enough use that they are considering it in the next series of official additions!!!!!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That would so incredibly RUIN the joke!!!
GAH!!! Idiots!
They Just Don't Get It!
