Ready any of the Star Wars novels?  I'm not talking the movie novels, I mean the serials.  Great books, I've read at least 60 of them.

Perhaps Christine by Stephen King.

Most of his books are way overrated, this one I liked.

Two sci-fi series by Harry Harrison are good. The Deathworld series and the Stainless steel rat series.
They're quite funny to boot.
Now in a tasty new flavour.

Battle Field Earth was a good book.

After you read the book the movie will make more sense too.

It's sad to say, but I think at last count, I have a bout 45 Star Wars novels.  Almost picked up another one last nite, but decided not to spend 26 bucks at the time.  I can't remember the name of the author, but  I read a series, I think it was 5 or 6 books, it was called Area 51.  I enjoyed it, but your mileage may vary.

Cheers,

Tim

If you're a Horror fan, then I'm guessing you've already read The Shining.  The scariest book I've ever read.

Other good books:

Horror/Fantasy:  Imajica (Clive Barker)
Horror/Fantasy:  The Great and Secret Show (Clive Barker)
Fantasy:  Songs of Earth and Power (Greg Bear)
SciFi/Fantasy:  Hyperion series (Dan Simmons)
SciFi:  Eon/Eternity/Legacy (Greg Bear)

Don't read that crappy "A song of Ice and Fire" series by George R. R. Martin.  Absolutely terrible.

Read the Conan novels by Robert E Howard, man I loved those books as a kid or John Carter warlord of Mars by Edgar Rice. Both those series were awesome and were written over 50 years ago! I don't know if you read Lord of the Rings but like the movies it was fantastic, thats why it was so important to me that the movies were great also instead of dragging the literature through the mud. Or take a chance and read some non-fiction and try a great book like Dharma Bums by Kerouac, could change your life.

What about "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson?

That "nonfiction" book was hilarious.

Yep, I buy/read them as they come out.  I'm probably up to 65 at this point.  $26?  Where are you buying them, the triple price store?

LOL......B&N...I'm usually to impatient to order online and wait.  I was looking at the new hardback...Rise of Lord Vader....may have pick that up, may be a good read.  I'm reading the Swarm series right now, just having a real hard time getting into it, have you read that one..does it start to pick up ?  I think the worst book I read thus far was Crystal Star...uggg

btw....it was a hardback price...I know PB is usually around 6.99

Fear and Loathing is an awesome suggestion or maybe some Bukowski, Ham on Rye, or Women. Don't forget any classics from Hemingway, Farewell to Arms, The Sun Also Rises. Another great book from Hunter is Rum Diaries, which will be coming out as a movie soon.

The movie was good, Depp was right on as Hunter, and the director Terry Giliam, I think that's how his last name is spelled, was incredible.

I think if you separate them you'll find they're not so very thick  ;)

Heinlan's "Stranger in a Strange Land" was cool. He goes insane halfway through, the author, not the main character.

for fantasy/advneture - anything by R.A. Salvatore, The Icewind Dale Trilogy and The Dark Elf Tlrilogy are particularly good, and  The Demon Wars series is excellent.

I just started reading Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, I'm only about 60 pages in, but it's good so far.

I love reading anything by R.S Salvatore. I am currently reading "Promise of the Witch-King" which is part of the Sellswords trilogy. You will understand more about the characters in these books if you first read the Dark Elf Trilogy or the Icewind Dale Trilogy.

Any Salvatore book is a highly recommended read.

No seriously. Whne I began reading the Mars series, it had the makings of a major snooze-a-thon but I found myself loosing track of time while reading it.

I think I made it to book 9 of the Wheel of Time.  Those are some big damn books!  At this point I would need to start over at book 1, I have no idea what was going on when I stopped...
