The beginning plans of the X-CADE!
« on: August 28, 2005, 10:23:42 am »
Yes, folks, after much time spent here and many flawed plans, I am finally beginning my own cabinet. I do not have the cabinet design figured out, but my plan is to look at the various examples, and build one designed to be sat down at.

Current plans:

System of choice: Modified xbox, EVOX menu-system.

Controller: Hori fighting stick 2, combined with PS2->xbox converter.

Video: Spare moniter I have(assuming I am unable to acquire something better), and this converter. This would then be followed by this converter, and a simple set of switches to swap between them when games do not wish to use progressive scan or better.

Total cost: Roughly 200 dollars, not counting shipping.

So, what do you guys think? Anything I should change? Anything I shouldn't change? Your opinions could really help keep costs down on this, which is a big point.

I highly recommend UnleashX.

It can be skinned to look any way you like, and it can have passwords/passcodes set to any item in the menu, so you could still have a system menu if you choose, but not have to worry about it being buggered with by the anyones that would do such things.

I literally just posted this in another thread, but will post it here as well...

That is UnleashX with the skin I created for my arcade machine. The marquee of the arcade machine displays the game, the screen displays the game icon or a preview video, and the background is a great retro arcade fly by video.

The CP and sides of the cab in the image are not in the proper aspect. Change the geometry of either the left or right side of the cab and the front of the CP to orient it properly.
