Where can I recycle my laser toner carts?
« on: October 26, 2005, 08:56:53 pm »
Jeeze, I've just spent the last 30 minutes trying to recylce these things.

I don't want any money for them.  I know there are places that will pay you 75-cents per cartridge, but I don't care.  One of my carts has been refilled (which most places don't like) and the other one is old (which some places don't want)

I'm just looking for the fastest, easiest way for me to print out a pre-paid label and box these up.

They're both HP.  I have the pre-printed HP label that came with my new toner cart, but at least one of the used ones has been remanufactured/refilled and HP doesn't want those.   I've been to recycleforbreastcancer.org, recycle4charity.com, tonerbuyer.com, recycle4dollars.com etc etc etc.  I don't want to call anybody, I don't want to sign up for any online account, I don't want credit for my carts, I just want to say "Hey, I've got 2 carts" and then print out a label.

Anybody know of an easy way to do this before I toss them into the garbage can?
Thanks

Office Max?

I usually just recycle mine in the big green container.  I dunno who dives in there since Peale lives so far away, but I KNOW someone's gotta be picking up my "recycling"

garbage can??

I'm telling you, that's where they were about to go.   But I think DK is onto something here.

I bet that places like OMax take these.    I'm also going to check the post office, I know they used to have little prepaid baggies made for recylcing inkjet toner carts.  I haven't seen them in a while, but I also don't visit the PO very often.  So maybe I'll check there.

Thanks

Nah, I leave the toner carts alone.  Dirty things, those.

Most schools have a PTA or PTO / Parents CLub organization and one of the more popular fund raisers are through a thing called funding factory and it encompasses recycle-ables like toner carts, celle phones, etc... they can redeem the carts towards getting play ground equipment, etc..

Yep,  I'd try a school.  One of the guys that I work with always takes our old toner carts from the office for his kids school.
