PC startup issue
« on: October 24, 2005, 01:10:53 pm »
Here's the deal:

Most of the time, when I start up my computer, I get a blank screen.  It powers on, fans are blowing, DVD tray can open and close, etc...

After about 800 times of turning it off and on, it will boot up with no mobo errors.  When it boots to Windows, it runs like a champ.  However, every once in a while I will get a mobo error:  Unable to overclock, blah, blah...

Components:
3.2 Prescott cooled by a 3.6 capable fan.
480 Watt PS Antec.
Fanless 6600 GT
1 gig Corsair value ram (400 mhz)
ATI HDTV Wonder
Happauge 350
some modem
ASUS P4P 800-e deluxe

Overheating is not an issue.  I haven't swapped out components yet.  I'm thinking it's the mobo.

I've seen this before with some ram in dual channel mode, put it in single channel mode and it was fine. It could also be you're overclocking - is the mobo speed set right?

go into the bios and put the overclocking on manual.  i think you should try a pc forum too.
