Gindustries Arcade - Stick a fork in me im done
« on: February 23, 2005, 06:28:17 am »
Hi all,

I've managed to scrap together a website to document my progression.

http://users.bigpond.net.au/ginno/Index.htm

I'm based in Melbourne, Australia

Not sure if anyone is interested , another LuSiD's design cabinet.

Still if anyone is interested and has any input that would be great.

These messageboards are a lifeline

Cheers All

Looks good so far at least you have a concept to move forward with. I started my project 2 months ago and I am still playing with the artwork because I just can't make up my mind and commit to it. So you are doing well there...

My idea to use a 2nd HD could beome an issue as i am updating my roms and it looks the size of them + CHD files will overflow my 20 gig...

:o  my cab has just clocked over the 1gig mark!! AND there's heaps of stuff on there i have to get rid of. i think my 4gig capacity will do me for some time...

In the 0.92 version of Mame there is 5000+ games however once you filter to the Working - Non-Clones there is only about 3000 games.

Is there some sort of program that can extract only these specific games so at the end of the day I am only having to ensure i have storage space for these particular files???

This is all hypothetically of course....

How manny games do you have within your 1 gig danny??

cheers ginno...

for your info, all clone mame roms depend on the real game rom to play, and even some real game roms depend on their clones.  so you can't just go through and delete all the clones, or else some games wont work that used to.  at least this is how i understood it.  thats why the catver file was created, so you could make custom lists in fe's.  well, theres my two cents.

Further to that... some of the original roms don't work, however 'Bootleg' clones of the orginal rom may have been modified to get the game running.  Eg 'Michael Jackson's Moonwalker'

I refuse to use Internet Exploiter for anything.

I had no problems viewing with Mozilla, however.  :)

Good old $MS, they put these wonderful little popups in hotmail letting you know "attachments are being added please wait" etc, then you download SP2 and it blocks them from popping up,

God bless those crazy cats

There is a trick to the REQUIRED CLONES. Dump the contents of the original rom file into the clone zip, then remove the nonworking original. I usually do that for Moonwalker, and Pac-Man.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Brought the cab inside this weekend, assembled it, only a few things left now...

Sorry about the poor qualitiy pics, played it until it got dark and then decided to take pics, already noticed a slow down in rate of productivity, seem to get sidetracked and start playing quite often...

Hey Guys,

Finished Control Panel over weekend, pretty happy with result

I think the greys in of the CP image match the cabinet as it is not flat black in color which i'm happy about.

Painting bezel chrome over the next week and then waiting on a bit more artwork, still unsure of side art as well...

The end is close....

Love the CPO great color for the logo!

Only thing is the plexi/lexan cover, the edges really stand out kinda badly.  Only thing I could think of would be to paint it the same color as the molding you have.  Dunno just sorta stands out

Not too woried about the edges, the whole cab has a bit of an industrial look, screws through bezel and control panel, chrome kick plate and speaker grill.

I do not have T-moulding so it was kind or impossible to hide these edges, if i paint them im sure it will scratch off, making it look even worse.

I really like it! I find the industrial look growing on me and these days. I also love the grey color as it's a nice change from black :)
<Flame Suit>I'm starting to appreciate anything that isn't a copy of an original machine more and more. In my opinion, too many people are simply seeking to duplicate old machines rather then try something new. This isn't to say that the classics are worth preserving, but some innovation wouldn't hurt.</Frame Suit>
Have fun!

Well guys this is it,

My quest is basically over, cab is complete, there is a list of future to do's (completed side art large stencil, add better computer, spend more time trying to get a crisper image, add back panel, re-align marquee, clean dust from under CP perspex overlay) but im not planning on getting to these anytime soon.

Thanks all for your help.

Here is a few images

Two comments... It looks great, and that big open area in the lower center is just begging for a 3" illuminated blue trackball.  ;)

Congrats on the project!
