Project Manticore -WIP
« on: October 04, 2005, 11:00:47 pm »
Hello all! I cannot believe that it's taken me this long to put down my first post, but I've finally taken the plunge and am ready to start my first cabinet project. I have been telling myself (and my kids) for almost 3 years that I was going to build a cabinet, but there's always been some other project pulling me away. It's time to change that!

The good news about waiting this long is all the absolutely awesome projects that have evolved in the past few years. I had my plans all completed before, but have gone back to the drawing board and incorporated some of the great ideas I've seen on the forums over the past few weeks as well as a few tricks of my own. My current plans are based off the UAII cab, but I have some tweaks planned to set it apart from the crowd.

I'll post more in the following days, but just wanted to get the ball rolling and say hello to all. Now that I've posted, I HAVE to finish it, right?  ;D

Well, if you look through these project announcements, you'll find that you can start a project, and have 10 pages of pictures and content without having anything more than a twinkle in your eye, a song in your heart, and some photoshopped pictures of what your cab might look like if it were actually in your living room... next to some plants.  ;D

You may also find that "finishing" a project is pretty vaguely defined, and some projects tend to just go on and on and on without ever reaching a definitive "I'm *DONE*" point.  Some projects may actually never end, being tweaked, and modified, and re-done ad-infinatum.   :)
...and some projects end up with pictures of broken chunks of scrapped dreams filling several garbage bins.   :'(

I'm looking forward to seeing another fantastic project run thru these forums, and if it's really cool, I'll steal your ideas and put 'em in my own project!   ;D

w00t!
Bitten by the cabinet bug... obsessing ever since.

Thanks for the comments guys. I felt more than a little lame about posting without even a single picture to post, but I'm really excited about finally starting this project after "talking the talk" for so long.

I have a long weekend coming up (love those bank holidays...) and plan to start some material cutting. I'll post some pics of my progress.

I guess I should post some pic to show I'm serious, so here's one of my younger MAMEhead holding a brand-new Happs coindoor I got off Ebay a couple years ago. New in the box for $20 shipped. I love it when I get an auction no one else notices...  ;D
