Actually you can buy contact paper in the UK it's just that most shops call it Fablon. In fact I think it's even manufactured in the UK!

Two places that spring to mind that have it are B&Q and Hobbycraft. In my experience Hobbycraft has a better range.

Depending upon how big the chips are... sometimes you can get away with using a black permanent marker to color it.

I used liquid electrical tape to fix up some scratches in vinyl, plastic, and laminate before. It looks good, and it's very durable. Cheap, too.  Using a very small brush is better than the brush included with the bottle.

Liquid electrical tape eh? Id never heard of this stuff before now! Sounds ideal, especially if I can apply via small brush - thing is a google search does not bring up any suppliers in the UK. Is this something I will find in B&Q Also what type of texture will it leave, will it be flat?
