Skeeball bill acceptor (I need one)
« on: October 01, 2005, 07:45:12 pm »
Ok, my friends bought a couple skee ball machines (see post).

The whole thing is working really well.  They are having one little problem.

It costs a buck to play.  4 quarters.

They want to put a bill selector in.  There is limited space in the machine.  They can remove the coin mech or the ticket dispenser because they wont need either of them.

Can anybody here help put one in?  You'd be able to take the ticket dispenser if you wanted it.  I don't know.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Does the bill acceptor just produce a signal similar to the coin mech?

The easiest solution would be to put a dollar coin mech in it and use those gold dollars. That would be very inexpensive and a quick and easy fix. The only problem is then the location would have to always have gold dollar coins on hand. It wouldn't be bad once you got going with it. On collection day they could just give you bills for your share of the coins.

A Mars 2000 dbv is easy enough to install. It's just four wires. Two for AC and two for the coin switch. You just hook it up to AC and the other two wires to the common and N.O. of the coin switch. It will take longer to figure out how to mount it than it would to wire it. If you don't need the ticket dispenser then that might be a good place to mount it. That way you would have the bill acceptor and the coin mech. The only time both would be OOO (out of order) would be if a coin was jamming the switch.

Not a bad idea.  After posting this, I started looking a little deeper online.  I figured a stackerless (or bottom stacker) unit on the right side where the coin mech would be the best.  But I'm concerned about space.

I *really* like your idea.  And its so simple that I might even be able to hook it up this weekend when I'm there.  I'll post pics.
