I like your ontrol panel design.  You really packed alot of stuff on there without making it 48" wide.  You just made it deeper.  very nice.

I am still planning on adding player 3 and 4 removable wings, I didn't want the cabinet to take up that much space usually.

My brother in law owns the last arcade machine I made.  He moved from NO several months ago but I believe the machine is in storage.  Not sure what town but I believe its NO.

Of course, for the cab to have been trashed, your house has to have seen damage too....

Yes, I am thankful that everyone in my family is safe.  We all evacuated the day before the hurricane.

Just found out that we are going to be allowed to go see our houses starting tomorrow at 6:00 AM.  I will probably go on Tueday to avoid the rush of 400,000 people trying to get back along one highway (I-10 is going to be closed).  We can't stay (no water, power, etc..) but I will get to survey the damage.

Good news

My neighborhood escaped flooding for the most part and the cabinet survived, at least for now.

There was a good amount of wind damage to my roof - lost most of the shingles on the roof and have many holes from flying debris.  Water damage was present on the ceiling above the arcade cabinet, but none got to the cabinet yet.  My fence was also knocked down.

Some friends put a tarp on the roof for me to try and hold off more rain.  I am a little worried that I may not be able to get a roofer to fix it for a few months.

Power and water service was restored today!!  But we still have to leave for an undetermined period of time.

Were those steel pipes used to hold up the fence? Yikes!

The fence looks pretty intact aside from the pipes. It might be salvageable.

Nice cab BTW, and congrats on surviving mostly intact.

I think the pipes are galvanized steel.   Most fences in New Orleans avoid using wooden posts due to the level of the ground water (same reason the cemeteries are above ground).

I am not too worried about the fence.  The insurance company is going to have to replace the roof and deal with the water damage anyway.

State Farm is great to have for insurace by the way.  They wrote us a check for flood damage even though no one had seen the houses yet to allow people to cover hotel expenses. Unfortunately, I had to switch to AAA for homeowners insurance.  AAA has stopped answering their phones.  I left a message on Tuesday regarding the damage and they have yet to call me back.

Glad to hear you got thru ok.  Let's make a suggestion to the people responsible for making structures hurricane proof.  Galvinized steel - OUT, plastic used in building playsets - IN!  Apparently that stuff has been windtested up to 140+mph.  Woulda been safer on that thing than in the Super Dome.

One thing I've been wondering is how the cemetaries don't *smell*.  I mean, decomposing bodies above ground, that's got to be nasty.  But people go there all the time, and people sometimes party there.

lol, yea the bodies are entombed in airtight crypts (or at least they were).  Cajun folks might be slow but we have enough sense to disregard our own corpses.

well another thing to think about...

the fence has no holes for wind to pass through so fence took all the abuse.
but the playset has lots of open spaces for wind to pass through so that might be the reason...

Yeah, the posts were bent because of the force on the fence.  It's the same principle that drives a sailboat, when you have a constant force spread across a uniform surface like that, it is much stronger than you'd think.  Kites work that way too.

I was advised on some random audio site that the sound would be optimal with a dedicated power supply (this one in particular).
