Giant GameBoy - "GameMan"
« on: September 24, 2005, 07:18:55 pm »
This isn't my project (I wish I was clever enough to come up with ideas like this), but a friend linked me to it the other day:

Construction:
http://gameman.loungespot.com/build.html

Completed and being played:
http://gameman.loungespot.com/play/index.html

It's a giant 6.5 times scale gamboy!  It even has large plug-in cartridges!  Very, very cool.  Instant honorary hall of fame placing, I say.  Very clever, and very unique.

dang, now i've got to make a gameboy advance, the nes style one.  it'll be like a giant laptop.

dang, now that i've told you all, i've got to build it quick, before you steal the idea.

Can you imagine if that guy built a PacMan?  It would take 2 hands to move the joystick and you'd have to stand on the CP.

That is an awesome idea. Imagine... Bigger! Two people to use the joystick, and one to jump on the button for Galaga. That would be sweet and annoying, all at once.

Great idea, make it as big as possible, make all the buttons work and then just allow the ability to hook in an old nes controller so you can sit back on the couch and play it as well!

Okay, he had me until the giant cartridges.  Apparently the guy only wants to play like 16 potential games?

IMO this is the only way to make a novelty piece like this desireable.  Bigger and impractical does nothing for me.

I saw this on Discovery Channel's Daily Planet show a couple of weeks ago.
