shopping help
« on: August 19, 2005, 04:48:56 pm »
as part of my I.S. curriculum I have to take principles of web design the book for the class is for Dreamweaver MX 2004. My instructor says owning the program isn't required but highly recommended. he reccomends getting the student version of Macromedia Studio MX. I was just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on the cheapest place to find it.........

Usually the student pricing is a MSRP that most retailers adhere to. In my experience shopping around I haven't found drastic discounts beyond those prices. Most college bookstores sell student versions of software or can order it for you. Not sure for web purchases, but you can also buy direct from the company without any problems. They usually just require proof that you're a student to get the discount/limited license version.

I love the workflow with Macromedia Studio MX.

I was going to suggest that route, but it sounded like he wanted a legit copy... besides now-a-days isn't that already assumed: internet = free software?

;D

Student discounts are usually the cheapest you'll get software... but prices vary school to school.  I know that some colleges have XP Pro for $5 or so, while my school charges $35 I believe... it all depends on what deal your school has cut with the company.

You can try to search online for schools that have it cheaper... maybe you can get it without actually being enrolled in that school (tho that usually isn't the case).

You're probably going to wind up paying the regualar student price..... or um..... get it from Mexico ;)
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

I know what I always used to mean with that expression, I don't know what it has to do with software piracy, though.
