AdvanceMenu Video problems
« on: January 31, 2003, 06:14:35 pm »
I have a WG19K7602 Monitor.  The resolution of this monitor is somewhat limited, but using the info from the PurpleMame site,  I have been able to get a stable-ish picture in ADVV for VBE, ADVMAME, and ADVMenu (using the different option switches).

When I try to run AdvMenu, the screen flickers and "waves" so that it's impossible to use.   Using the VBE driver, I can get ArcadeOS to display @640x480, but the fonts are unreadable.

Does anyone know how AdvanceMenu goes about picking the resolution that it's going to use (should I be tweaking a particular modeline in the advmenu.rc or in VBE.RC)?

I blew away my VBE.RC and recreated it, making a point to try the 16bit modes in addition to the 8bit modes.

I'm now able to get a picture that syncs when I run it with :

device_video VBELINE/Trident vgaline

Unfortunately, it looks terribly bright.  I tried changing the gamma and brightness values in the advmenu.rc, but after reading the documentation more closely, I discovered that these values are ignored when using VBE.  Now how can I control the brightness?
