Semi-technical : help me with motherboard
« on: June 21, 2005, 08:54:04 pm »
Hey all,

I didn't know where else to post this question..

My friend gave me his old Pentium III 600mHz machine (complete system). I wanted to use it for my mame cab.

It worked fine 6 months ago in his house.

Now, when I try to boot it wont POST, no video, no beeps. Fans spin, lights are on, but nothing else. I managed to get it to boot once after switching out the CMOS battery with another battery of mine. It then told me that the CMOS battery was low and to reconfigure the BIOS settings.... After I did that, and hit "Save and Exit BIOS config", the computer reset and never showed any video on the monitor again.

I thought maybe it killed my CMOS batteries, so I went out and got another, but no luck this time.

Any ideas? I wish I knew the motherboard model/brand, but its unidentifiable.

Phil

Yes, swapped out with a known good power supply.
Perhaps it doesn't provide enough power at any given voltage. Will try a really overkill PS next.
Any other sugestions?
