Goforce4 TV out Cord.
« on: September 27, 2002, 06:25:31 pm »
I'm thinking about using a tv in my cab. I have a Geforce4 card with tv out but I dont have the connector (from the card to the tv). Does anyone know where I can buy one? Perferably at a Walmart or radio shack. Something local. Also what is it called?

if its a single prong, its an RCA / AV cable, very common very cheap. if its a round plug witha buncha little prongs its an S-Video cable, very common but justa little more expensive.

Radio shack or any audio/video store will have them

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

What type of GF4 do you have?  I have a TI4600 and it has a special cable that supplies the line in and the line out all in one cable.  I'm thinking that this is some sort of special cable only availiable through the manufacturer.  What happened to the one your card came with?

I have a Geforce4 MX something... It did'nt come with a cord sadly. But
yes its an s-video out. I ended getting a 21" flatscreen tv for $156 !
Not a bad buy, and it looks amazing.

It took me forever to find out that it was an s-video out. I had no idea what the hell that was.... Guess I need to catch up.

Geforce 4 Ti 4600 has a special NVIDIA only connector on the back which looks a lot like SVideo, but has more pins

Anyway, VisionTek, at least, shipped the first batch of cards without  supplying the connector. (Which steams me)

You have two options
1) Mail their support department and get on a list (like I did) for them to send you a replacement. NOTE: THEY HAVEN'T DONE IT AFTER A YEAR, so you may have to bug them.

2) Try to find a Geforce2 which has old SVideo out and put the GF4 in your main computer =)

All the Geforce cards have those spots for extra pins but a standard s-video cable without the pins works fine. And if you need a composite signal they sell an s-video to composite adapter at Radio Shack for about 20 bucks.

Avoid getting s-video cables from radio shack.  I got one for my tv-out on my GF3 and the screen is ALL screwed up.  Go to best buy and AT LEAST get Acoustic Research cables.

I just got a Geforce4 4200, and the TV out looks like crap for 640x480 and under.
This is only when using the Windows drivers... anyone know of a way to fix it
or to disable the drivers  behavior under windows?  The TV Out looks great
until Windows/Nvidia's drivers take over.   :(
