Monitor Mounting/Hardware Question
« on: June 06, 2005, 08:47:30 pm »
Now that I've decided to purchase a WG D9200 monitor for my cab, I've been trying to find decent mounting hardware to do the job. The original mounting hardware inside the cab were these cube brackets with a bolt sticking out of them that would go through the monitors mounting bracket, and then the monitor itself would rest on the cube bracket(see below for an example). It seems to be a fairly decent solution, and I was hoping to get new brackets just like that to fit the D9200. For the life of me though, I can't seem to find any sort of monitor mounting brackets anywhere. Either I'm blind, looking in the wrong spot, or no one is actually selling them.

If such a beast exists, do they sell them with the bolt sticking out of different spot on the bracket? The way it's constructed now, the bolts fit the original WG K7000 monitor perfectly, but are too close together for the D9200. If such a bracket design still exists, I'd need the exact same configuration(so I can use the existing carriage bolt holes in the cab), except the monitor mounting bolts would need to be set about an inch farther outward than where they are now. I've put a blue dot on the pic below to roughly indicate where the new bolts for the D9200 would need to stick out from.

And if nothing like this is for sale anymore, is there anywhere else to turn to for monitor mounting brackets? I've seen 1up's universal design elsewhere on the forums, and I'll probably get that if I have to. And of course I can always rig one up with wood and carriage bolts, but I'd like to think of that as a last resort.

Yeah, I already mentioned that.

I'd like to know also.  I'm not too keen on spending $70 for mounting brackets but I really haven't found any other option.

Yeah, I already mentioned that.
sorry, missed that.

what about some aluminum or steel angle.  You might be able to find some with dimensions that fit the bill.  I used aluminum channel for monitor mounts for a cocktail kit I put together for someone here.

That's a decent idea.

Really, I'm not necessarily worried about mounting the monitor, but I'd like to go for the most "elegant" solution. Reusing the original carriage-bolt holes would keep my cab as clean as possible, but if it comes down to it I'll just putty over them, repaint a little, and then use 1up's product.

Luckily I still have some black melamine paint left. That stuff is EXPENSIVE.
