For those who haven't seen it yet, this open source FPS was released a few days ago.

Open source, eh?  Truly awesome.  I am going to play it, and I don't even like FPS that much.

Looks pretty slick alright. I can't remember the last time I played a plain old deathmatch, it was probably back in the Quake2 days (I formed a clan, then realized I couldn't play to save my life- especially with a crap dial-up connection).
I'll have to try this tonight.

Definitely looks interesting. The open source angle could lead to some pretty interesting MODs.
I'll keep my eye on this for sure.

reading more about it "Nexuiz is built on the power of the Darkplaces engine, which is a heavily modified version of the original Quake."  From the screenshots it looks more like a modified quake2 engine.
But since it is based off a quake 1 engine (which has been open source for some time) there's probably a bunch of people out there that know how to make mods for it :)
It's also why it doesn't require a high end system :)
i wish there was info about the weapons, will have to check the forum...

We should all build bartops and have BYOAC deathmatches.

I DLed it just now.  I say that if any of us play this game we should make a game called BYOAC and if you can't join it.  Also, if possible use your SN from here too...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen
